Natalie (Mexico, Age 16): English 322

My parents live in United states. Every weekend they called me, one day they called me and told me i was going to live in united states, i don’t believe them. Im the younger in my family i have two older brothers, i live with my uncles and my cousins in Mexico city. Every morning i have to wake up 8:30am to help my aunt to clean the house and prepare breakfast at 12:00pm i have to take shower for go to school. the school is  one block from my house. Every day my aunt gave me $10 pesos to buy tortillas after school, at 6:00pm i finishes school and dinner was 7:30pm, my  aunt always gave me an hour to complete my homework sometimes my cousins helped me.
I had 30 minutes to watch TV 30 to take shower and at 9:00pm i had to be lying, every day it was the same except weekends, on saturdays i had practice sewing with my grandmother, on sundays i came out to play with my school friends.A normal weekend i was waiting  my parents call, when they called me they told me again i was gonna live in america, i just laughed, my parents told me it was no joke.
That day i was just thinking what it was going to happen with my family and my friends i did not want to go. March 13 i comes to America, i was sad but at the same time i was excited because i was going to see my parents again, my parents were waiting for me at the airport.
my mom sometime works  if she not work she stay at home to cook and clean the house my dad always works. my mom went to inscribe me in the school i was nervous.
The school was great and i liked it the problem was that it was not easy to me because i could not understand what the teacher and my classmates said.
When i finished school my mom always going to pick me and buy things for food in the supermarket.
when my parents and my sat down to eat they ask me “how was school?” i told them it was not easy, my parents told me “work hard play hard” i never understood what my parents mean by that expression.
my first year in America was not easy but i tried my best to learn English, my teachers and classmates helped me learn more every day.
I was gaining more confidence in English and i could communicate with my teacher, classmates and others.
I still miss my life in Mexico but someday i will return. For now i will learning more English, and i will try to understand my parents expression “WORK HARD PLAY HARD”..
